The Wake Forest Baptist Fitness 500 is a fan-oriented
event
starring some of the biggest names from the NASCAR® Nextel Cup®,
Busch® Grand National and Craftsman® Truck series, aimed at educating the
public about healthy lifestyles.
Hosted by
Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center,
the event will be held on Saturday, January 8, 2005 from 1 until 5 p.m. at
the
Lawrence
Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum
in Winston-Salem, NC. Tickets
will go on sale October 2, 2004 at 10 a.m. EST. |

Eight teams will square off in a
series of fitness challenges to see which group has the best overall
health status. Fans will have an opportunity to meet the drivers during a
two-hour autograph session after the competition. A live auction will also
take place. The presenting sponsor for the event is
Allegacy
Federal Credit
Union.
“These drivers are athletes and work
very hard to maintain high levels of fitness to enable them to race each
week,” said J. Kevin Bokeno, Vice President of Public Relations and
Marketing at
Wake Forest Baptist. “We are pleased that
they have chosen to
team up with us to promote healthy lifestyles and encourage their fan base
to take care of themselves.” |

During the four-hour event, attendees
will be able to participate in various health screenings and get valuable
health information from
Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center,
one
of the nation’s leading academic medical centers.
All proceeds from the event will be
donated to
Brenner Children’s Hospital, part
of
Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. |
